about DONNA

I have been involved in swimming all my life from the time I learnt to swim at 5 years

old through to my competitive swimming days, then into my 20’s and 30’s changing it

up to marathon swimming. My biggest swims were Cook Strait which was 27 kms in

a time of 8 hours 15 mins and around Rangitoto Island which was a 38 km swim,

taking 12 hours 18 mins. The mental toughness in these swims have been very

rewarding and great learning experiences for myself as a person and also

developing throughout the years in my learn to swim teaching and my coaching

achievements.

Over the last 30 years I have had the opportunity to coach World Class and Olympic

swimmers, Paralympic swimmers and World Ranked Triathletes. Along with these

levels our business included learn to swim, and I am proud to say that out of 4

swimmers that made it to the Olympics, 3 of them came through our learn to swim

and development programmes.

My philosophy in swimming is:

“To create an environment where children can reach their true potential in the water

with life skills that they have developed along the way in our programme.”

Within the KICK Swim Centre Learn to Swim and Fraser Coast Swim Club

programmes I see plenty of opportunities of athlete development and the ability to

help all swimmers through their progression to further their skills and help them

succeed.

My life time motto:

“Its amazing what can be achieved it no one cares who gets the credit.”
